A motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be taken in the Parliament Lok Sabha of India on Tuesday based on the proposal of the opposition party. His prime ministership will be discussed in the Lok Sabha. But Modi himself will not be present on this day.
Indian media NDTV reported in a report on Tuesday (July 8), Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who has just regained membership of Parliament, will start the discussion of the no-confidence vote on the first day. On July 26, a Congress lawmaker proposed this no-confidence vote.
The main opposition party proposed the no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence on communal violence in India’s northeastern state of Manipur.

The opposition Congress also said that they did not propose this no-confidence vote to oust Modi. Basically, they are using it to get Modi to discuss the Manipur issue in detail.

Communal violence broke out in Manipur in the first week of June. More than 170 people have lost their lives so far. But Modi did not open his mouth about this violence. However, when the incident of two women walking naked in Manipur went viral three weeks ago, he was forced to speak briefly about it.
Modi, who has been in power since 2014, has faced a no-confidence vote for the second time. A referendum against his government was held in 2018, but it was annulled.
According to Indian law, if a party wants to move a no-confidence vote in the Lok Sabha, at least 50 legislators must support the motion. Which Congress got very easily.
Meanwhile, the BJP has called a parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday ahead of the no-confidence vote. There they will discuss it in detail.
Five central government ministers and five legislators will debate the no-confidence motion in Parliament.
BJP says that there was violence in Manipur in 1993 and 1997, but Parliament did not make any statement about it.
